Delicious Iron Packed Smoothie

Updated: May 1

Ladies! Have you ever felt more tired than usual, fatigued, over sleeping and still tired? These can all be signs of low iron.

Here's a green smoothie high in iron, antioxidants, calcium, magnesium, potassium, B vitamins, vitamin C, fibre, and electrolytes. Once a day or every second day will be sure to fight off sickness, fatigue, keep you energised, and awaken mental clarity.

Some times you may not choose the green smoothie on a menu because associations around green smoothies maybe 'too healthy' or 'gross'. However, don't judge this book by its cover, enjoy the flavours because you might be pleasantly surprised.

Two great iron rich powders are spirulina and clean greens, staples for green smoothies. I'd recommend Natava Superfoods, New Zealand owned certified organic SuperFoods company. Affordable and natural, you don't have to add a lot as little as 5g/1 Tsp is enough not to overpower the overall taste.

Delicious Iron Packed Smoothie

  • 200ml Coconut Water

  • 100ml Cold Press Apple Juice

  • 70g Frozen Banana

  • 50g Frozen Mango

  • Handful of Spinach

  • 5g Organic Spirulina Powder (or clean greens powder)

  1. Add the coconut water and cold press apple juice into a high speed blender.

  2. Followed by the frozen banana and mango.

  3. Wash the spinach and add to the blender.

  4. Lastly, followed by the spirulina or green powder of your choosing on top. Always add your powders last this way they won't stick to the side of the blender.

  5. Blend ingredients until smoothly combined.

  6. Pour into a glass and enjoy!
